2Baba says sorry to wife and supporters over divisive monogamy statement
2Baba Apologizes After Backlash Over Controversial Monogamy Remarks
Veteran Nigerian singer Innocent Idibia, widely known as 2Baba, has issued a public apology to his wife, Natasha, his children, and his fans following criticism over his recent comments about men and monogamy.
The Afrobeats icon sparked outrage during a podcast interview when he stated that men are “not biologically wired” to remain sexually exclusive to one woman. His remarks quickly went viral, igniting fierce debates online. While some agreed with his take, calling it a blunt truth about male nature, others slammed it as a justification for infidelity and an insult to women.
“A man is not built to sexually be with one woman,”* 2Baba had said. *”A man can love one woman deeply, but expecting him to be sexually faithful to just her goes against male biology.”
Amid the backlash, the music star retracted his statement, calling it “unlegendary” and admitting it was poorly thought out. He expressed regret for any pain or disappointment his words may have caused his family and supporters.
The apology has received mixed reactions, with some praising him for taking responsibility while others remain skeptical about his sincerity.
