Reekado Banks Addresses Past Conflict with Wizkid

Reekado Banks Reflects on Past Feud with Wizkid, Reveals Reconciliation

Nigerian singer Ayoleyi Hanniel Solomon, better known as Reekado Banks, has opened up about his past clash with Afrobeats icon Wizkid.

During a recent podcast appearance, the Easy (Jeje) hitmaker revisited the 2020 controversy, which began when Wizkid publicly called him a “fool” and a “clout animal” for promoting their collaborative song *Omo Olomo* amid the #EndSARS protests. The incident sparked widespread debate across the music industry.

Recalling the ordeal, Reekado admitted it was a tough period, particularly because he had initially opposed releasing the track. He revealed that his management team overruled his objections, believing the timing wasn’t an issue. “It wasn’t the best situation, especially since I didn’t even want to drop the song. I told my team not to, but they felt otherwise,” he shared.

When asked if he regretted the release, the 31-year-old artist confirmed he did, adding that the experience taught him to trust his gut. “Definitely. These days, I don’t do anything unless I’m fully convinced,” he stated.

However, Reekado confirmed that he and Wizkid have since made amends. He disclosed that Wizkid recently visited his restaurant, where they had an open conversation about the incident. According to Reekado, Wizkid apologized for his outburst and admitted he handled the situation poorly.

The singer also revealed that Wizkid expressed regret over his past criticisms of music executive Don Jazzy. The two artists reportedly bonded over personal struggles, including the loss of their mothers. “He’s remorseful about how things played out. There’s no bad blood between us now,” Reekado said.

The discussion marks a resolution to their past rift, highlighting growth and maturity in Nigeria’s ever-evolving music industry.
