Album: BOJ – Duplicity

Boj’s ‘Duplicity’: The Alté King Unmasks His Dual Identity

The “Alté Grandfather” is back, and he’s seeing double. Boj, the pioneer who practically coined the genre’s name, has officially released his sixth studio album, Duplicity. Dropped on December 5, 2025, the 13-track project serves as a deeply personal exploration of the friction between the public persona and the private self.

The album’s title wasn’t born in a marketing meeting; it was born in the heat of an argument. After being called “duplicitous” by a partner, Boj leaned into the critique, using it as a mirror to examine the different versions of himself we all carry.

“We all live behind masks, not out of deceit, but protection,” Boj shared regarding the project’s theme.

While Duplicity features some of Boj’s most introspective solo work, the features remain top-tier, showcasing his ability to bridge the gap between the UK and Nigeria:

  • “Imposter Syndrome” (feat. Obongjayar): A high-energy Afropop opener that sets the self-reflective tone.
  • “Shana” (feat. Show Dem Camp & Joey B): A standout club record that rekindles Boj’s legendary chemistry with the SDC rap collective.
  • “After Hours” (feat. Anaïs Cardot): A seductive, vulnerable track marking Boj’s “loverboy era.”
  • “Cana” (feat. Pa Salieu): A hypnotic, cross-continental link-up with the UK star.
  • “Contraband” (feat. Olamide): A gritty fan favorite that balances Boj’s silkiness with Olamide’s street-smart flow.

Clocking in at roughly 32 minutes, Duplicity is a concise, cohesive listen. It trade the sprawling guest lists of his previous work for a tighter, more intentional narrative. Produced largely by longtime collaborator Genio, the album marries “maverick electronica” with classic Afrobeats, proving that even six albums in, Boj is still the most daring voice in the room.
