Tragedy and Accountability: The Untimely Passing of Destiny Boy

The African music community is currently mourning the tragic passing of 22-year-old Afrofuji star Afeez Adeshina, popularly known as Destiny Boy. The singer, who shot to fame as a teenager with his Fuji-style covers of Davido’s hits, reportedly passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2025.
Within the last 24 hours, the narrative surrounding his death has grown increasingly complex. While early reports suggested a long-term battle with a seizure-related illness, the Ogun State Police Command has since confirmed the arrest of a suspect and transferred the case to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
Adding to the controversy, Destiny Boy’s father has publicly raised the alarm regarding a missing SUV belonging to the late artist, which was allegedly moved shortly after his demise. This development has sparked a wider conversation about artist security, the lack of formal estate management for young stars, and the urgent need for asset protection within the volatile music industry.
